the end, again

the wades the snow

i've been thinking about alot over the holidays. one thing i've thought alot about is my presence on the internets. i'm all over the fucking place.

there's just no time. i've analyzed my priorities and given the fact that family comes first, period...i was trying to figure out what was second. i have to make music. i can't stop. whenever i get writers block/bored/uninspired/whatever i end up doing a bunch of projects...anything to not make music. but i'm in full moodswing again and, even better, ali is really bugging me (in a good way) to focus on The Wades (the musical project that she and i do).

i've let wadebrigade.org kinda slide lately. that sucks. note to self: never let yr 'real' website slide in favor of a bunch of fly-by-night free social networking bullshit sites, i.e. myspace, blogger et al.

the way blogs and youtube are going i'm suprised my mom doesn't have some blogspot shit.

chriswadesmom.blogspot.com haha.

nothing i do is cooler than The Wades to me. music was my first love. ali wade was my second. i married her...we made music together. then we made babies together. it's all tied in, yo. gots to keep it real.

plus, i've said this before, the whole thing with 100records getting shut down kinda gave me blueballs. i did audiosuede pretty much just to compliment my posts on 100records.

so i had dreams of going big with this but those dreams overshadowed the real deal, the music that i make.

so audiosuede v2.0 shall go the way of v1.0. oh well. i figured, whoever is cool enough to be reading this was cool enough to keep checking back in spite of the increasingly infrequent posts. to you i say thanks and sorry. you can stop checking.

but you, cool person, are the exact kinda human that i want to be coming regularly to wadebrigade.org and seeing whats up with The Wades.

we like you. do you like us?
check one ___yes ___no

cool. 2007 will be streamlined. what was that Eminem song...cleanin' out my closet? something like that.

i love you all. yeah, even you. chrisuede

Converge "No Heroes" LP

No Heroes

Converge is the most important band in rock music today. try to think of another contemporary rock band that is doing everything right.

time's up.

so many bands mix this sort of late-night-high-school-party-cocktail of genres. you know, when everyone is passed out and there's nothing left but a shot of Jim Beam, a wine cooler and a Milwaukees Best...and you mix it and drink that shit? yeah, that's Underoath. but that Makers and Ginger you had when everyone else was drinking PBR?...that's Converge.

Converge eats heavy metal for breakfast. i'm not naming any names...promise, but there's some new american metal that could stand to take a lesson or two from a band that's not reading "Death Metal for Dummies" and hanging out with sluts in their videos. yup, i said that.

the most important thing to consider about Converge is that they record and produce themselves. that's huge. Kurt Ballous guitar sounds are 1 part amazing guitarist and 2 parts freedom to experiment. no fuckin' way that dude could get that creative with the clock ticking in a regular studio and with some engineer rolling his eyes and thinking about what's for lunch.

ok, i admit, i bought this on iTunes because it just came out and i couldn't wait and i'm a busy man; i don't know when i'll be able to make it to a record store (my regret is that i don't have a cover and i'm a big fan of J. Bannons art).

so, at 5:00AM, i'm at work blasting this record, much to the chagrin of anyone around me with a hangover. this is a classic 'fuck you' record, one that can be blasted in the company of Norms and is sure to make them feel totally fucking uncomfortable. other notable 'fuck you' albums include Slayer 'Reign in Blood' and Misfits 'Earth A.D.' it's an honor to be in that kind of company.

halfway through the 2-minute ass assaults they start channelling Dokken on 'Grim Heart/Black Rose' and i'm like "you mean this gets even better?" fuck. all you emo kids might wear hair metal shirts to be ironic, but i really like that shit, ok? and if this is the closest thing to a power ballad in hardcore then i'm holding up my lighter right now.

then it's several more 2 minute assualts on my ass again. relentless. i have nothing bad to say about this record and there's no sign of Converge ever making a bad record, as theirs keep getting better.

readers: i'm planning a switch to more of a review-type-thing in lieu of the mp3 blog. i'll still post mp3's but no album rip-offs for a while. i dig music. and i dig writing about it. so if anyone is interested in getting something reviewed get in touch with me at chrisuede@wadebrigade.org for contact info. cool? cool.

sailin' on

i've been feeling really yacht rock recently. every so often i go back there and view all the episodes again. it's so inspiring. sad thing...i really like that kind of music and i always have. there was nothing like getting all highed up in my punk 20's and listening to Steely Dan on reel-to-reel with the chief.

so yeah, yacht rock. love it. and as my hair grows out and my beard gets bigger i'm starting to look like a creepy man from 1980. see me in the background, behind the lovely Mrs. Wade? so smooth.

that being said...and pun intended, the loss of 100 recordsreally took the wind out of my sails. i haven't mustered up a good post since then and don't really plan to today. i'm posting some stuff by the Wades because i know that i won't sue myself.

the snow fresh out the box for an upcoming Christmas compilation.

dear, sweet november because our 10th anniversary is coming up and DSN is our anniversary song.

the new liberal since the mid-term elections are coming up and, as per usual, there is NO ONE TO VOTE FOR IN AMERICA, fuck you very much.

poor to go because we just bought a car.

ill communication

i'm not much of a rule-breaker. i've done some stuff, even some illegal stuff, but i'm no criminal. i certainly don't do things just to be bad.

i love music. i prefer independent music, although that adjective has been co-opted like punk and hardcore and whatnot. nobody knows what is real anymore. fuck.

i like some major-label music. i don't, as a rule, mind if a band signs to a label. i figure, they wanna do it full time, so ok.

i do have a problem with entertainers being filthy rich. i think that's retarded. how can rockstars live with themselves?

so, when i just found out that 100 RECORDS has been shut down by the Beastie Boys for having some of their songs posted, it made me want to cry.

i'm not even putting a link to 100 RECORDS because it's going to be gone in less than a day. if you've never seen it then you missed out. if you've been there, you know that Tesco and all of the contributors (myself included...i considered it an honor) clearly have a true passion for music.

if you've ever wondered about that grey area between Artist and Businessperson: this, right now, this...this is that exact point in time and space where Artist ends and Businessperson begins. sell your shit to the Lowest Common Denominator. fuck the people who respect your art.

Rock Stars would rather sell to clueless kids than share with seasoned music lovers. music lovers who educate the clueless kids so they don't remain...clueless. we do the work you stopped doing when you hired a driver and started buying designer underwear.

you ready for some cliche' motherfuckers? fuck you and your corporate bullshit. it's been said a gazillion times and it nver gets old.

CORPORATE ROCK STILL SUCKS. by it's very nature it is anti-art. The Beastie Boys et al are no better than Basketball Stars that endorse $200 shoes that their fans are too poor to buy and kill eachother in the inner cities for.

finding out about 100 RECORDS today has been a sort of wake-up call. never stray away from what's right. buy locally grown organic produce and support independent artists that WANT YOU TO HEAR THEIR MUSIC.

sorry for the stream of consciousness.

Tesco, thanks dude.

someone let Yanni drive.

dag nasty 'wig out at denkos'

the godfather

safe

simple minds

wig out at denkos

Dag Nasty records are like snowflakes. you know how that goes. the first Dag Nasty record would probably go over better here. it's more punk...or is it less pop? you got yr peanut butter in my chocolate. something like that.

when i got Wig Out, the opening track "The Godfather" totally threw me for a loop. a total about-face from what i was used to, having worn the grooves out on the 'Can I Say' LP already.

not to get all nostalgic, but do you remember when alot of music was still really new to you? living in the suburbs in the 80's, i mostly read about new music in Thrasher magazine. i would buy whatever the local record store actually carried in their "Import" section that had appeared in Thrasher. there was no Myspace or anything to preview music, and unless i had a friend who had some cool, new, weird shit...it was all unexplored territory.

music can serve as a sort of bookmark for different points in life. this record just reminds me of a time in my life where every new record i bought was a brand fucking new sound to me.

maybe i seem jaded. on the contrary, i still appreciate new, exciting sounds. i just haven't heard any in a while.

this is a fun record, though, and my cassette copy of it in high school gave the auto reverse in my car stereo a run for it's money.
